  • Meet our new Ocean and Coastal Law Fellow, Siena Fouse! We asked Siena several questions to get to know her better.

    1. Where are you from?

    Silver Spring, Maryland.

    2. What was your first job?

Babysitting. But my first "grown-up" job out of college was as a legal assistant at a law firm specializing in immigration, criminal defense, and personal injury cases.

    3. Who inspires you?

My parents frequently inspire me. I am also inspired by residents of North Carolina who challenged the practices of their industrial hog farm neighbors to protect the health of their families.

    4. What made you consider a career in law?

I was looking to go into environmental science and policy but realized that law and the leverage of enforcement are important motivators for acting on scientific evidence.

    5. What are you most excited about doing this summer?

This summer, I am excited to attend my friend’s wedding and celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday as well as his and my grandmother’s 65th wedding anniversary.

    6. Where’s your favorite beach? OR What is your favorite beach memory?

This past November I traveled to New Zealand with my family, and we made our own hot tub in the sand that was naturally heated by underground geothermal activity. It was amazing to see.

    7. What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I like hiking, rock climbing, yoga, and reading.

    8. Do you have any hidden talents? What are they?

I can juggle and play beginner-level guitar, bass, and drums.
