  • Each summer, the National Sea Grant Law Center hires a full-time law student. This summer’s Research Associate is Betsy Randolph, a rising 2L at Lewis & Clark Law School. Over the course of the summer, Betsy will contribute to the NSGLC’s research projects and publications. We asked Betsy several questions to get to know her better.

    1. Where are you from?

    Rochester, New York.

    2. What was your first job?

    My first job was waitressing in a retirement community.

    3. Who inspires you?

    My best friend, she is one of the most authentic people that I know.

    4. What made you consider a career in law?

    During college, I took a wildlife law class. I really enjoyed the course material and gained an understanding of how the law could be used to protect other species and the environment which led me to apply to law school.

    5. What are you most excited about doing this summer?

    I am most excited about getting to explore Oregon with my dog.

    6. Where’s your favorite beach? OR What is your favorite beach memory?

    Sunset Beach in Deer Isle, Maine.

    7. What do you do in your free time?

    I like to go hiking with my dog and I spend a lot of time reading.

    8. Do you have any hidden talents? What are they?

    I am pretty good at knitting.
